Gorski Update

Attorney Frank J. Kolb, Jr. was lead counsel in the attached case that has been reprinted in part by the Connecticut Law Tribune. In this particular case, the Plaintiffs, Cartier International B.V., Baume & Mercier S.A., S.A. Ancienne Fabrique George Piaget Et Cie, IWC International Watch Co., A.G. Ancienne Fabrique Constantin Societe Anonyme, Lange Uhren GMBH, and Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre S.A., were represented by Todd S. Sharinn of the Law Firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, of New York City. This large firm maintains offices virtually worldwide. The Plaintiffs in this case sought to have the Defendant, an individual, held in willful contempt of the Court's orders and severely punished.

The Honorable Peter Dorsey, U.S. District Judge for the District of Connecticut, after a trial on the issues rendered a complete decision that is available in the Court, however, the attached condensed reporting version indicates that the Plaintiff's requests for fees, costs, damages, etc. were cut approximately 81%. Cartier International B.V.

In a case involving what the court characterized as an “apparently routine trademark infringement case” the plaintiffs, including Cartier International B.V., filed a motion for contempt. In deciding the motion, the court stated it would impose the costs of bringing and hearing the motion for contempt on the defendants, including Thomas Gorski.

Attorney Frank J. Kolb, Jr, Counsel for Aura Simmons successfully appealed the Trial Court decision to The State of Connecticut Supreme Court causing the Trial Court Decision to be reversed in part and re-tried causing the award of lifetime alimony to his client and a further definition of "Property" to be made by the State Supreme Court with particular emphasis on the valuation of Advanced Degrees obtained during the marriage or with the assistance of the non-degreed spouse.

Colandro v. Allstate and Biller et al

Attorney Kolb was asked to assume the representation of Mr. and Mrs. Colandro in an action originally commenced by Attorney Jon Biller, son of Meyer Biller both of whom became defendants in this action. The suit originally contained allegations against Allstate which were withdrawn because, in the opinion of ttorney Kolb were groundless and the trial proceeded against the defendants, except Attorney Jon Biller and led to a Judgement in favor of the Colandros.
